Morecambe Bay Partnership is looking for volunteers

Kirkhead Tower.

We are looking for people who can help to collect and investigate historical and archaeological information about seven intriguing heritage sites around Morecambe Bay:

Walney Island (WW1/WW2 Defence sites, Nr. Barrow)
Birkrigg Common (Nr Ulverston)
Kirkhead Tower (Kents Bank)
Hampsfell Hospice (Grange-over-Sands)
Jenny Brown’s Point (Silverdale)
Warton Crag (Warton)
Cockerham Observation Tower (Cockerham)

If you would enjoy the opportunity to learn about how to access historical records and hidden documentary evidence, and build up your own local history research skills, there are series of workshops which will each last 2-3 hours available . Also included are class-based sessions, field trips and visits to Record Offices and Archives. There will be 4-6 sessions per site, resulting in fully researched and documented reports for each of the seven sites.
