FURC mapLancashire Archaeological Society is a society based in Preston, Lancashire, with over 100 members.

We meet once a month between January and November for lectures and visits to archaeological sites and exhibitions.

Our lectures take place on the third Friday of the month, at Fulwood United Reformed Church on Symonds Road, Fulwood, Preston, PR2 3DH at 7.45pm (located off Garstang Road between Blackpool Road and Lytham Road).

Our committee meets regularly to plan our programme and events.

Current committee members are: Ruth Wilson (Chair), Mavis Shannon (Secretary), Fiona Mair (Treasurer), Bill Shannon (Meetings Secretary), Gaynor Wood (Webmistress), David Swindlehurst, Jeanette Dobson, Andrea Rollins, Judith Hothersall & Margaret Edwards.

New members are welcome. Membership is £9 per year, £3 for students, Visitors £2.

  1. If possible, would you please let me have David Johnson’s email address? As I said to Bill at the last meeting, I’ve visited some “Anglo-Saxon hut sites” in north Craven ( – ? Kettlewell) and wonder if David’s visited them. One in particular showed signs of being cleared of moss recently.
